Alfred Becker, *1938, studied English and theology at the University of Göttingen. His fascination with Franks Casket has accompanied him since that time. An early study of Old English poetry on the "Verses of the Whale" was followed by his dissertation on the Runic Casket. Becker was a research assistant in Regensburg and held a visiting professorship in Texas/USA in 1969/70.

After his return to Germany, he worked as a high school teacher and private lecturer. Since his retirement he has been working even more intensively on the runic casket.
